An IVF due date calculator works out the due date from the day of embryo transfer (or egg collection) instead of the last period. Because the embryo's age is known exactly, IVF pregnancies can be dated more precisely than natural ones.
Pregnancy is counted from a notional last period two weeks before conception. On the day of a day 5 transfer, the pregnancy is already 2 weeks and 5 days along. The calculator subtracts the embryo's age plus 14 days to find that start date, then adds 280 days - the same model used for every other pregnancy. It works the same for fresh and frozen (FET) transfers.
After months of appointments and injections, the two-week wait and the weeks after can feel like limbo. Having the due date, the current week, and the date of the first scan gives you something concrete to hold on to - and to plan around together.

How IVF due dates are calculated for each transfer type, and what happens next.
Add 261 days to a day 5 transfer date, 263 days to a day 3 transfer, 260 days to a day 6 transfer, or 266 days to the egg collection date. Each gives the same 40-week due date as a natural pregnancy dated from the last period.
On the day of a day 5 blastocyst transfer you are counted as 2 weeks and 5 days pregnant; after a day 3 transfer, 2 weeks and 3 days. That's because pregnancy is dated from a notional period two weeks before fertilisation, plus the embryo's age.
No. What matters is the embryo's age at transfer, not whether it was frozen. Use the transfer date and the embryo's day (3, 5 or 6).
Most clinics offer a viability scan at around 6-7 weeks - about 3-4 weeks after a day 5 transfer - when the heartbeat is usually visible. The calculator shows when 6 weeks falls.
Rarely. Because the embryo's age is known, IVF dates are normally kept even if a scan measures slightly ahead or behind. Always follow the dates your clinic or midwife gives you.
